The Scout Group now operates 1 General Page and 1 group

The Scout Group Facebook Page – This is a open page, with the main objective of promoting the Scout Group, in a positive light. It sometimes carries section specific photos etc,  which further this cause. Occasionally it will carry information for the whole Scout Group. Anyone can join.

Scouts Learn Vital First Aid Skills

The Scouts have been learnt some key skills in first aid including assessing a casualty, checking breathing and commencing CPR.

Scouts have also been demonstrated on the use of a AED (Automatic External Defibrillator)

Learning key skills at scout age gives a good basis for further training and first aid but also give Scouts the knowledge they need to help deal with any eventuality. A key piece of information which many seem to lack is the ability to asses when the Emergency Services are required, while also ensuring they have accurate information to relay to the Emergency Services Call Handler.

Scouts took part in various scenarios and role plays while learning these skills and some pictures can be seen below.

Macmillan Coffee and Cake Night

A huge thank you to everyone who came last night to attend the Macmillan Coffee Evening and to all those who helped out by making and donating cakes.

We are extremely proud to announce that over £222 was raised for Macmillan in one night through selling cakes, drinks, badges, the lucky dip, and the raffle.

To put the donations into perspective, £27 pays for a Macmillan nurse to support a family affected by cancer for one hour and £41 can run their online community service for an hour reaching almost 800 people affected.

So a MASSIVE thank you to everyone. We had a fantastic time and hope you did to, if you have any photos we would love to see them.

Summer Camp 2018

This year’s summer camp was held at Kibblestone International Scout camp in Staffordshire for a week. The Scouts took part in a variety of adventurous activities and both leaders and young people thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Below are just some of the photos taken over the week. 

EJAM District Camp 2018

This weekend we all had a great time at this year’s EJAM District Camp, especially with the weather!! Our volunteers certainly did!

EJAM is Eastleigh District Scouts Camp which is held every few years, with a different theme. This year, the theme was ‘Animals’, and each group was given a genre to dress up and decorate their site for the opening ceremony. Our group was given the genre of ‘South American animals’, so in the traditional 13th style we went the full nine yards! We decorated the mess tent with inflatable animals and cacti as well as our site with a banner, flags, and balloons. We were definitely the best-dressed site on camp.

Once the everyone had arrived and we set up camp by putting up our tents and finished up with games and hot drinks before bed. 

On Saturday morning, the sun was shining and the kids were excited about the activities, the Beavers soon arrived us. We then joined the opening ceremony of EJAM with hundreds of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, and leaders, and headed towards the main area after breakfast. The opening ceremony was great, and it was lovely to see so many Scouts from across Eastleigh. We were then allowed free roam of the activities on offer this included, archery, climbing, inflatables, backwoods cooking and so much more!! After the first session of activities, we ate hot dogs for lunch before resuming the many activities on offer. As well as this we had fun hitting two pinatas and eating the sweets from inside them! For dinner we had chili and rice as well as nachos, fitting into our theme before being invited to the district campfire for an evening of entertainment before bed. 

In the morning we resumed activities including new ones exclusive to the Sunday session including a giant inflatable dartboard. Followed by a packed lunch with the district on the main field and then the closing ceremony of EJAM where all the leaders dressed in ponchos, sombreros, flags and brought our inflatables. Overall it was an amazing experience and we are looking forward to the next one in 2020!
